Knee Replacement in Dogs

Knee replacement is an option for complex orthopedic cases in which joint damage significantly affects the patient's mobility and quality of life.

Some knee conditions cannot be resolved with medical management or conventional surgery. When there is severe joint damage, persistent pain, instability, or significant loss of function, more advanced surgical options may need to be considered. Knee replacement is not generally indicated for every patient. It requires a complete orthopedic evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and precise planning to determine whether the dog is a candidate for the procedure. At Vet-Co, we review each case using clinical judgment to determine whether this option is appropriate or whether another treatment pathway would be better.
